Currently when you go into the top level of the project (not the dashboard) and search items awaiting my comment, even items that you have already commented on appear on this list until the lead voter on that decision node votes and moves it onto the next node. It would be useful if, once an item is commented on, it is removed from this list in order to accuratley track which items are complete and which items still need commenting on

This is definitely a good idea. We struggle to get people to do it right in the first place they find it frustrating that items they do not need to see any longer are still there.
This is an essential requirement. Regardless of whether the Dashboard is used of My Inbox, if an item has been actioned by a 'commentor', then it should clear from the users 'court' / list of actions.
