Being able to invite users to one specific folder location directly, without having to add them to a security group and deny them access to all others folders within the project (which, in some cases, could be hundreds).

We wouldn't look to introduce this shortcut into our security model, which would also present visibility challenges for admins to be able to see and control all users on a project.
An alternative to what you describe would be to use the public link functionality in VfP which avoids the need to invite the user completely.
