When assigning a task, the originator defines the timescale to respond to the assigned task. When responding to the task there may be further information or implications to be answered before the task is resolved. It would be useful in this instance if the person responding to the task could extend the timescales accordingly, otherwise the task reports overdue when in reality it is in progress. This has recently affected us on an external audit.
