It would be very intuitive if a user could see how many items have changed within a container, active in a workflow, simply by looking at the number shown on that container. Very much like number of unread messages/notifications on a messaging or social media app. Tracking the activity of items (new/revised/released (via Activity Status visibility)) would signify changes that users need to be aware of. An example of this could be that a Sub-Contractor (X) is awaiting the release of 'Construction' information, but will need to keep checking the system for the documents to 'appear' - email notifications don't help or are turned off! If there was a visual aid to show changes for each container (by 'role'), it would save the time in searching.
