Currently items can only be marked as 'Read' but not as 'Unread' like you can with Outlook.

This is a really good idea
If you have "mark as read " - it cant be difficult to create a "Mark as Unread"
on files.
Alternatively give us the functionality to "flag" a file somehow change its colour or similar
