Live changes to workflows such as adding/removing nodes means that any items in the preceding node will get stuck/error when trying to vote through and need to be data corrected or removed from the workflow. Either option can be very time consuming for the admin or VFP database team to correct.
A number of below options (unsure of feasibility) may prevent potential issues to minimise time:
- If there are any items that have not been terminated in a workflow which is being modfied, a message pops up when trying to amend it to either warn of this, suggest creating a template and deploying this instead, or prevent making the amendments entirely
- Items in a workflow will remain in its original workflow configuration, regardless of changes to the live workflow
- Batch removing items from a workflow (may be an existing suggestion) rather than needing to remove individually, which as a consequence will also mitigate stuck items as these would be easier to correct

Totally agree - in defence of VFP there are very few systems i have worked with that will cope well with amending a workflow when there is an item in it already. But there must be some form of functionality to allow the easy removal of the item(s) and re-entering again after the changes have been made.
