Configuring/denying view permissions for specific Notification Transmittals

As the Notification Transmittals container is a unique one-per-project option, this runs the risk of an "all or nothing" visibility against the Notification Transmittal container. Admininstrators may want to lock down visibility of legacy transmittals.

This is not even possible to do individually; even though the permissions option is visible via the mouse icon when selecting a Notification Transmittal, all the checkboxes are greyed out and the permissions cannot be changed, even when disinheriting.

However if this was to be addressed I would propose larger functionality for quickly configuring permissions against Notification Transmittals, or perhaps even having sub-containers under the NT container which could be created for easy organisation and an audit history of notifications that is easier to follow.

I disagree with Andrew in that it shouldn't be that complicated.  There are many times where you do not want people who are not involved with something that's been issued to even KNOW that something was issued, and particularly if they want to see which parties to whom things have been issued, they have that option, whereas if they were not a party to that Transmittal, they shouldn't even see that it was generated.

VfP is very strict with permissions and security in all other departments, but is totally deficient in the Transmittals area.  Transmittals ought to automatically be "Private to Recipients" (and Originator).

Thanks for your suggestion. I believe the answer to the root of this issue lies in the security configuration of the documents in combination with workflow controls. A notification transmittal is a record of communication - what was sent to whom and when - but different to an email, the advantage of doing so from VfP is that the security against the documents transmitted still apply. Deleting or hiding the Notification Transmittal will have no effect on the document visibility.

I'd suggest further exploring this with your Viewpoint Enterprise Administrator, who will have access to Viewpoint Professional Services who would be more than happy to help in this fine-tuning.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
