It would be of great use to users if the previous revision of a drawing/documents that has not entered a workflow can remain visible and usable on the main screen whilst the latest revision runs through a workflow.

Configure workflow has tick box for Show last visible revisions
Select the Show Last Visible Revision check box if users who do not have access to the current revision of an item in a non-visible workflow will see a previous revision of the item that has been made visible.
