On some of our subcontract packages, our managers do not want all subcontractors to see and work to the latest revision of drawings or specifications, but the last revision that they were issued under a Notification, Task or similar.
Workflows would not answer this problem as it is not a case of waiting for review/compliance to release any given revision to everybody, because even once ratified as OK for some subcontractors to use, it may be decided by QS that some subcontract packages should not see the new revision because the changes are outside their scope of works. Therefore you would not want a Matrix Transmittal to pick it up or a Dynamic Virtual Container to pick it up - except when an Organisation is viewing that SHOULD see the Current Revision.
Alternatively, two revision columns could be provided in container views - current revision, and last notified revision - with the links to open/download anchored to the revision numbers, not the document number. This way subcontractors would have a choice which to open, could take an advance look at a later revision, but have it made clear they are still being expected to work to their latest 'released' version.
