What would be nice is if when a Document Container is selected in the Folder Tree, you'd have the option on the mouse menu of "Create > Filter Level", which would LOOK like another Container, almost like another Virtual Container, but is in fact a Search.  For instance, if you have a Container of Drawings, and a Sub-Container for Architect, it would be good to be able to add a "Filter Level" for each Floor of the building and for the Basement, or other such things as Pediment, Façade, etc. which are indicated by Level numbers in our Naming Convention.  The idea is that you would set a criteria based on the values in the Naming Convention (and NOT the 'Advanced Search' from the grid view).

This would mean drawings would automatically sort into a logical place without all those places having to be selected for each one, and it would be less containers to select as Search locations when adding to Tasks, Notifications or doing 'Attach To'.  Also if the document number was found to be wrong and was corrected, it would automatically thus 'move' from the wrong place to the right place.

Also it would ensure numberspace exclusivity for that document number which you wouldn't get if each level/area's drawings were uploaded to separate Containers.

Oh yes, and to make this practicable, it would need an Excel Import function so that a list of Filter Names and Criteria Strings could be uploaded from an Excel/CSV file as adding each possible value and its description to the Folder Tree with 'mouse and click' would be a time consuming task breaking the browser to its limits (which is bad enough already as it is when switching Containers even on a powerful PC).

If ONLY that could also be tied to the geometry levels in FieldView aswell, but that's one more dream too far ;)  Since 'New FieldView' is developing so quickly and with no reference to the VfP UX, it's plain there is no intent whatsoever to converge the UX of the two apps side-by-side.
