If you set up and deploy Custom Field groups on one project and then template that project, creating a new project from that template does NOT carry over the Custom Field group deployments, only the definitions. For ages I couldn't work out why our second project were never using the Custom Field feature, and then I noticed the Custom Fields I had set up were not deployed on the folders they should have been despite being folders that were part of the templated structure from which it was created.
