This field could be used to maintain a specific meta data unchanged through the lifetime of a document (e.g invoice) and could be used as a bridge to track document status in other related 3rd party applications. Currently, we have no way to identify whether we have already processed a specific invoice, as with any updates to the document status (e.g. getting signed and re attached) all the meta data related to that invoice will be lost. The only fields that are not affected by revisions or modification to a file, are the "name" and "description" fields, which is not suitable for tracking purposes. Please note we do NOT want to activate the "maintain metadata" for a container as it affects all the other metadata fields.
