Add a useful RFI feature to Viewpoint for Project.

Viewpoint for Projects is now one of the very few with an outdated, almost useless RFI feature.

The task feature isnt fit for purpose when managing contractual RFIs and is only useful for ...general tasks.

An example of a major issue is that any RFI raised by a supplier, if forwarded by the contractor to a designer shouldn't have the response from the designer being immediately apparent to the supplier without the review and sign off by the contractor.

This raises all kind of risks.

Tasks are now being used within 4BIm and hold the same risks.

We would like an updated RFI feature taking onboard industry advice.

  I would also like to add the use of Distribution Groups to this - the current RFI format is not user friendly nor efficient.

  This is an essential part of the toolkit required for managing a project, it is noted that better functionality may be available from within the Viewpoint Team software, but unless this is integrated within 4Projects allowing users to link RFIs to the documents it is useless.

  Key Functionality requirements:

  1. Ability to add a Task Controller(s) through whom all Tasks raised & subsequent responses must go.

  2. Ability to number Tasks logically based on the organisation who raised the task.

  3. Ability to restrict visibility of tasks to those on the recipient list (by organisation).

  This could be managed quite easily using the workflow engine, if it was available within tasks containers.

  RFI Task Merged

  It is a common industry practice that an RFI initiator (or designee) are the ONLY ones that should close an RFI. The Task function does NOT allow for the, thus I recommend that a special RFI function be created in the system.
