VfP will check the naming of a file against the container it is being uploaded into and ask if it is a revision, but wont check the whole project / parent container etc. Its possible to upload into two containers and use the naming convention tool to give the item the same name, which should be inadmissible. An extension to this functionality would be to suggest the next number in a sequential sequence where the rest of the naming has been filled, based on the items in the project/container. Currently you have to search/run a report to work out what the next sequential number should be.
