It would be useful if the system automatically assigned the final digits in a document number. At the moment we have to keep a separate document register which is very admin heavy. If the system checked as to what the next number was for that specific combination of document number codes this would negate the need for a document register to get a number

It would also need a function to check numbers across all containers in the project, so that the same number can't be used in different containers. Another long-term bugbear.
