Some documents may be time-limited, e.g. certificates, passes, permits, etc.
Most systems have some kind of Expiry Date/Due Date field that can be used to report on what needs renewing, or automatically set the Status to "Expired" if the Expiry Date has been reached.
It would be useful to have such a date and to have "Expiry Date passed" as a tickbox in the Workflow criteria filters, so that a Workflow can be triggered when the document needs to be revised. This would need a Workflow Node available called "Revise", which would trigger a user/group to have to submit a new Revision of the document and if necessary lead on to the Workflow normally associated with a revision of that document.
