Hello, any news on this issue?
What news of this, or is it dead and buried....
Hi everyone,
Apologies for the mis-labelling - this suggestion is under active development; as we look to provide more tools to ease the creation and collation of design comments on the VfP platform. This will be an iterative process as we address the many different areas of the application where this can take place - Tasks, Discussions, Document Revisions, Workflow comments, attachments and Markups.
There were some recent deliveries in 2018.04 in this area:
We will continue to add value to features you use to manage the Design Review process - keep your eyes on the What's New page for details.
Thanks,
Andrew
It would be beneficial if possible to download comments done in a viewer or as attachments. Maybe there could be a folder to store comments so batch download would be possible. There are CDM systems that have this facility and from experience, it is useful to all parties. Josh if you need to discuss this in more details please let me know.
Andrew,
Where has this been shipped to?

Long Overdue
I have used clicking each paperclip but that is slow process. When will this be developed?
Hi Andrew
I’ve just tested this and I works ☺
Didn’t think it would as it was showing as planned?

@Vix - 1st Feb
We have recently (17/09) uplifted this functionality so that clicking the paperclip icon will now add local (workflow) attached items to the clipboard too. This should be of great help when batch processing external comments if they arrive in the form of local files added to Decision Nodes in Workflow.
@All
This suggestion is now set to Planned, with the intention giving you more powerful options to batch action and/or batch report on comments that have arrived during Workflow. Watch this space for further updates...
Kind regards,
Andrew
Is this being looked at?
Has this suggestion really been opened for over a year now ?
This is such a basic request, other systems such as conject have this function, why are viewpoint so far behind ?
I agree, I am having to get VFP to run back office reports to my clients/EA's to easily see comments and node timescales.
Surely we as user should be able to run a report to see which commentor has done what and when to easily track an item under workflow.
How many votes do you need before you can get batch downloading of comments resolved? 4 projects is the one of the most non user-friendly file sharing systems.
I have mentioned to various 4P support people over the years of the need for batch downloading of mark-ups. I was told at one point that it would be added to a list of items for development. So far nothing has been done.
It would save people so much time being able to batch download comments. Please listen and do something to improve this aspect of 4P. Thank you.
How many votes are needed to get this issue resolved or is it an imaginary number in the clouds, just to test our patience???? Let's be factual and objective here. If all PMs and Design Managers support this vote, we might get a little further.
I've just gone back through all the release notes I've kept for years (for reference purposes!) and in the June 2015 release, and I quote:
2. Attachments
2.1 Click Paperclip to Open / Download attachments.
Internal Tracking / Issue Number – 32754 / 48713
Users can now click the paperclip icon next to an item (If the item has an attachment) to add any attachments to the clipboard. From the clipboard you can batch download and print the attachments.
When we have a release and VfP is back online, I always test everything in the release to ensure it works for our users on a Monday morning (sad, I know!). After testing this I found the above wasn't the case. I raised this with our Account Manager on the Monday after the release who tested it himself and found it not to work. At that point, I questioned VfP's QA/Testing prior to releasing updates.
What VfP failed to tell us was that the above was only the case if the item was already on the system and subsequently attached and not attached from a local drive e.g. your desktop. Granted, the workaround would be to have a 'Comments' container, but are our Design Consultants (or indeed our internal Design Managers, Building Services Managers etc...) going to upload to said 'Comments' container and then attach to the relevant drawing workflow node? I think not. We'd be vilified for creating more work for them. We already take enough flak from our Design Consultants having to open each drawing to access the comments. (Yes, I know there are workarounds such as e-mailing them the consolidated comments but that's really not the point when we are supposed to be working in a collaborative environment).
On the slightly positive side, the Vote Grid. This works great if you have a scenario where you are going to vote everything through as 'Status A'. However.... it would be extremely advantageous if we had the ability to upload comments when using the Vote Grid / Batch Vote functionality. I'll run a search after posting this to see if anyone else has raised this - I'd be surprised if no one has!
Downloading multiple PDFs to review the comments, collate and then update a single document is time consuming and can be frustrating.
@Amanda's comment: text box comments are a waste of time and have been turned off on new project workflows as someone has to manually export comments typed! this needs to be looked at, please let us know if you want that raised as a separate suggestion. Amelia
Batch downloading the mark-ups, local file attachments alongside the ability to export a report containing any text box comments from the workflow would be an enormous help. Another flaw with the workflow is when a ‘panel commentator’ inputs a text box comment and/or local file attachment and tags with a vote there is no ability to notify anyone within the panel.
