We use a naming convention to assign names to our documents, incorporating abbreviations to keep the names concise. However, this approach requires users to remember specific abbreviations and their sequence to comply with the naming convention when searching for a document. This can make the search process prone to errors.
To address this, there should be an option to search in the same way as you would name your document with the naming convention. Users could see a dropdown list to select options (or input values if they are part of the naming convention). This would eliminate the need to remember the exact sequence of the convention and the abbreviations for specific topics.
I have found two other suggestions (by Tom Alexander and Bradley Alwan-Arab) that propose the same idea. Bradley Alwan-Arab even provided an example, which I’ve attached as a file.
I genuinely don’t understand why this functionality has not yet been implemented in Viewpoint for Projects, as it would make the naming convention far more useful. Searching would be way faster than it is now.
I hope this gets added soon, because it would help employees since they would have to remember less.
