if you read my related emails and the feedback below. This was expected within the browser. Not within a desktop application that can only be installed on a minute amount of computers because not everyone has windows 8 or 10. The vast majority of users use Windows 7, XP & Apple. 

As Jeremy stated below, we were expecting previews during development. Unfortunately this never happened.

Jeremy, I've offered a few points on this to Aaron Jost already but would be interested to see how the other users in this thread feel about the following as part of the upload/revision process. In my mind this is what needs to be fully encompassed eventually:

1. Drag and drop into browser as stated

2. Automatic pairing of primary, secondary, tertiary etc files based on identical name

3. Automatic recognition of new upload vs revision based on part of the file name (excluding revision ref in original filename for example) - this 'fuzziness' is a tricky one to get right I imagine.

4. Automatic population of standard metadata based on filename - Project Vault currently does this with ! separators in original filename I believe.

5. Possibly the ability to populate custom fields based on filename eventually as point 4...imagine this would have an impact on the custom field creation process so maybe one for a bit further down the line.

This should be standard now, we should be able to drag and drop into containers and once we have, the metadeta form pops up allow us to input the details like 4explorer does. 

Thanks Joel - We (Viewpoint) are working on a new upload experience for Viewpoint for Projects.  Thanks for the screen shots and hope that others will chime in with some of the specifics requirement you may have.  We are especially interested in how you would like to manage meta data capture as file are being uploaded.  This is one of the complexities when doing multiple files at a time.  As we get some designs ready we will give you all some previews to get your feedback.

Here is an example of the BETA facility in Aconex on Battersea Power Station Phase 1 Project (attached as word snap shots).  Can we find out if the ViewPoint team are planning a new BETA drag and drop release in the next version?  It would remove the need for the use of any JAVA upload.

Let me know as I would support this development. Make the changes count.

Especially as Carillion IT intervention to install 4P explorer is needed that takes time and perserverance to acheive. This would be extremely useful for the casual user and upload of project information.
