Why oh why does the 'items per page' always default to 20??? Would it not be easier for those using the system if it defualted to the maximum? Saving me precious time?

Joe is correct that the more records returned, the slower each container will load initially, but depending on your connection speed it may not be a significant performance difference.
You can amend the default amount of records a container will display per page by following the below steps.
I THINK (just as a day to day user) this is because when you select all it can be painfully slow to load everytime. however some what quicker with 20 on page.
