After Discussion with Richard Harrison, I can't see any benefit to uploading files unregistered. What is the benefit of this feature? It creates significant work, which seems to be of no value. if there is a real usage for it, allow it to be turned off.

I completely agree. Can't see the point of this feature at all.
Thee only benefit to it is speed for users in replying to things. However the biggest bugbare with tasks is not being able to download attachments en-masse or in bulk ! Rapping up health and safety files etc as you can imagine is difficult enough without trawling posts and individual posts and open individual attachments. this has been asked for on countless occasions in suggestion box. But suggestion box should be renamed to part Time Suggestion box with no time limit at all to development calls !
