Permissions management idea, rather than dipping in and out of folders and having to recreate multiple folder structures with similar permissions:
The idea is to have an easy to use permissions matrix which allows you to change permissions on all folders in one single place:
The folder structure is at the top of the matrix, security groups and users down the side axis. You can navigate down the folder tree by clicking on the folders at the top to tweak lower level permissions.
Right clicking on an appropriate grid space will let you choose all the permissions for that user/sec group on the corresponding folder. Maybe as a visual aid, the system would show a symbol based on the highest level access they have…e.g. edit, view, admin (if they can add users) etc.
It would also make sense if you could copy and paste/edit en mass permissions so you don’t have to edit each individual grid square.

Bring back the old matrix style for the permissions makes life easier to have an overview and able to tick or cross than dip in and out of each setting
i just created a suggestion about this topic, my idea was to make the Troubleshoot Permissions screen editable.
Hi chaps, 2 points to consider with this one in my opinion.
1. A small change to the suggestion above but I would advise folder structure down the left and security groups along the top of a grid. This mirrors the architecture spreadsheet tool we provide and use during implementation to keep things consistent and make a bit more sense as the folder structure is displayed on the left top to bottom in the software itself.
2. To aid users with configuring permissions with regards to inheritance, in the desired grid solution inputting a level of permisisons for a parent container ideally would by default cascde this down in the grid to child containers - then if permissions at these child containers need to differ selecting that cell as described in the original suggestion would allow users to do that. It would reflect the way the software works better whilst also reducing time having to 'copy and paste' as suggested above.
This is really needed, so much wasted time at the moment editing individual folders, one security group at a time. Why not use the troubleshooter window style to manage permissions?
This would be a useful option and is available on other systems
This would be very useful and save a lot of time, look at 2G we managed security permission in a Grid Sheet all on one page /view. Now we have to go into each container and apply permissions.
When you right click on a container and go to Configure / Permission / Trouble Shoot - this shows the permissions against security groups and individual users, would be good to manage permissions in this environment
