It would be nice to be able to manipulate the email notifications (subject, headers, body, footers) and add metadata or other user data to each type of email notifications that viewpoint provides. There's too much garbage data and/or too little informative data in the notifications.

Hi everyone,
We are progressing into the design and development stage of a project to restyle and reorganise the email notifications from VfP. We would very much like to engage with you and incorporate your feedback into this work to uplift the notification experience from VfP.
If you would like to engage with us in this project, please send me an email andrew.brennan@viewpoint.com and tell me a little about yourself and how you engage with VfP:
Name:
Company:
Job Title:
VfP Enterprises I work on:
How I engage with the notifications from VfP on a daily basis:
(Are you mainly distributing/responding/both and what are the key processes you're involved with)
Suggestions for improving/challenges faced with the email notifications from VfP:
(1-5 suggestions or challenges you face with VfP notifications)
We would require you to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before we can progress to the next stage and share our mocks and work in-flight with you. I'll distribute this via email for those of you who wish to engage with us here.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks,
Andrew Brennan
Andrew, Adam,
Thanks for taking the time to add your comments here, much appreciated. You'll be pleased to hear that this is very much inline with our thinking in how our notifications need to be reformed for modern consumption across multiple devices. I'd encourage anyone else who's subscribed to this thread to please flag up any more specific notification/email cases for our consideration.
Kind regards,
Andrew
The problem with the email title blocks is that the "New Viewpoint For Projects™ Task INFO..." or "APPROACHING REMINDER 4Projects Task: ACTION REQUIRED:.." is all you see when scanning through emails to see whether they are important, which is not helpful when you may be cc'd on 100's of emails from viewpoint on a daily basis. We should be able to quickly scan an email title and determine whether or not it is important, before anything else we want the ability to show actual fields with for example [name][description] right at the very beginning of the title of the email. Don't really see the need to advertise viewpoint within the email title but if required this could be done within the email body or at the very least at the end of the email title rather then at the very start. It would also be helpful if it was possible to show custom fields within the email title. The email title naming convention should be able to be applied & adjusted throughout including for alerts which at the moment are not helpful as they only show the [name] which in the case of our project is an auto-name for reference purposes which does not give you any information on the actual contents.
Hi Andrew,
Glad to hear you are currently reviewing the email formatting. Some expanded feedback:
I'm aware of the ability to customise the email header, but this offers only limited options, and I've confirmed with the Helpdesk that this doesn't apply to all the email types, for example, the overdue task reminder email headers cannot be modified. We would like to be able to include the task description in the overdue reminders, but cannot seem to do this.
I've had a number of requests to shorten the email headers/remove unnecessarily wordy sections from them, e.g. "View For Projects Transmittal Notification from...", "RESPONDED Viewpoint For Projects task INFO :". Basically, the email headers are too long and these bits cannot currently be trimmed to make the subject clearer. There is too much text before it gets to the information you're looking for, e.g. task/RFI number and description. We're working with consultants and subcontractors who now ignore most of these emails because when they're previewing the subject it doesn't give them the information they are looking for. Would be great to be able to include custom fields in the email headers for particular areas also.
Would be great to have the ability to customise the body of the different email types to include useful metadata, e.g. add the task description to the body if we can’t have it in the header. The overdue task reminders only include the task name, due date, and the text of the most recent post at the moment, but we’d like to add the description and our own custom fields in here. Also, having only the most recent post text isn’t particularly helpful sometimes (if the most recent post is something like "will do" or "OK" as it often is), so having the thread, or the first post included as well would be helpful.
Finally, the emails include a hyperlink to the container an item has been modified in, but not directly to the item that has been modified, which would be incredibly useful. Currently the user needs to follow the link to the container then search for the task.
Thanks,
Andrew.
Enterprise Administrators already have the ability to customise email header format for automatic emails sent from VfP; please seek out the person(s) responsible to request any changes you would like to see implemented.
We are currently reviewing the formatting of emails in general, so please keep your feedback coming here.
Kind regards,
Andrew
I'm getting a lot of feedback around this from my projects. They are quite dissatisifed with the format of the current notifications as our subcontractors aren't reading/actioning things because the information they want isn't included in the email title or body.
I have been asked on many an occasion if the email reports received at enterprise level on a daily basis can be sent showing the projects broken down individually.
Where we have an enterprise that has numerous sites, and the same users within them, the users are struggling to determine which project the information is for, although the BIM numbering is helping, it would make things so much easier it this could be done.
This would be a really useful feature to have, and allow the recipients to get more relevant information about the notification at a glance.
